SwimTastic is an ability based swim school designed to challenge swimmers of all levels and abilities. We offer lessons for children from 3 months old through to adults.

Mark Bone has a Bachelor of Commerce and Administration (BCA) from Wellington University, and was a former High School Teacher of Accounting and Economics.
Swim Coaching and Teaching has always been a passion for Mark, and while secondary school teaching, he actively pursued both his loves.
Mark has had a life-time in the sport of Swimming and triathlon, having coached numerous NZ Champions.
In 1989/90, Mark was the first overseas recipient of a “Counsilman" Scholarship, where he spent two years working at the International Centre for Aquatic Research based at the US Olympic Training Centre in Colorado Springs.
Mark returned to NZ in 1990, setting up a new swimming club in Christchurch, and once again putting numerous swimmers on NZ Teams.
In 1993, Mark was Named NZ National Coach. In 1994 he and his wife moved to Auckland.
Mark has travelled the World with NZ Swim Teams, overseeing the 1996 Olympic Campaign where Danyon Loader won two Olympic Gold Medals. In 1995 at the World Short Course Championships, the NZ Relay team won the Gold Medal with Mark as the National Coach.
Mark has coached athletes that have medalled at Olympic, Commonwealth, Pan Pacific and World Championships.
Mark has been an active commentator in both triathlon and swimming, commentating Olympic and Commonwealth Games, World Championships, Ironman and ITU events. He has commentated for both TVNZ and Sky, as well as live at various events. He is an active member of the NZ Swim Coaches and Teachers Association, where he is a Life Member and past President.
Mark has had many highlights in his coaching career, but the standout was his involvement with Hamish Carter and Bevan Docherty when they won Olympic Gold and Silver respectively at the 2004 Olympic Games. Mark has also had a major involvement with many aspiring triathletes and ironman, including Cameron Brown, a 3 time podium finisher at the World ironman Championships and 12 x NZ Ironman Champion.
Mark set up SwimTastic in 2000, basing the SwimSchool on his philosophy of “Technique leads to success”, and a belief that every child should gain a lifetime of benefits through aquatics. The original swim school was based out of an old warehouse in Morrin Rd, St Johns. In 2019, SwimTastic moved into its beautiful new state-of-the art facility at 69a Merton Road, St Johns.
